E. Shaver, Bookseller. This bookstore is the brainchild of Esther and Edwin Shaver. They visited here in 1975 and fell in love with Savannah. They purchased the historic 1842 Eliza Ann Jewett Townhouse and converted the lower floor into the bookstore. Le Chai. Le Chai deals exclusively in the wines of the Old World. The primary focus is France, with Spain running a close second. Germany and Italy are running in third and fourth though they are gaining ground. Austria, Hungary, and Portugal round out the rest. The entire inventory is stored in a "cellar" or as the folks in Bordeaux might say, a "chai" (pronounced `shay').
