Many of you have asked our advice on what tours to take while visiting the coastal Low Country in and around Savannah Georgia.  We continue to enthusiastically recommend that our guests check with the Savannah Convention Center web site for a wide variety of fairly inexpensive walking and step on trolley tours throughout the historic district.  These themed tours come in virtually every flavor from historic, architectural, ghost, pirates and somewhat pricier river based eco-tours.

Savannah V.I.P. Movie Tour – Savannah has hosted many movie locations over the years.  The V.I.P Movie Tour shows  over 68 movie locations as well as exceptional upgrades over the standard tour such as a tour of the famous Mercer House, where Jim Williams (played by Kevin Spacey) lived in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," refreshment break at the world famous Clary's Cafe (featured in the book and movie "Midnight..."), lunch at Paula Deen's renowned restaurant, Lady & Sons, (gaining entry to Lady and Son’s is worth the price of our this tour alone as our guests avoid standing in line for hours at Paula’s restaurant while taking our well known tour), Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil book, movie DVD, and much, much more.  

Bull River Eco Adventure Cruise - This signature cruise travels Bull River through the salt marshes down to the barrier islands of coastal Georgia.  Along this narrated cruise, you’ll enjoy and learn about marshland and tidal river ecology.  Viewing the barrier islands and learning the history of these pristine wonders is always a treat.  We’ll watch dolphins at play and egrets stalking along the oyster beds.  This educational trip is fun for all ages and qualifies Girl Scouts to earn the Coastal Georgia Patch.  

Dolphin Eco Cruise - (1½ hours duration) This shorter cruise is mostly about the local dolphins but also filled with the scenery and wildlife found in the lowcountry marshes.  This cruise is more than your “average” Dolphin tour.  We will talk about and see marshes, crabs, pelicans and of course dolphins.  

Oatland Island Cruise – (3-4 hours) Visit Savannah’s “Zoo” and Environmental Center, Oatland Island.  Bull River Cruises has worked with Oatland Island to bring you this opportunity to combine a cruise of the waterways with a walk on the wild side.  Panthers, wolves, bison, birds of prey and more are seen in their natural habitat. 

Ebenezer/Savannah River Exploration - (8-10 hours) Travel the first leg of the historic antebellum barge route that terminated in Augusta, Georgia.  We follow the path of the Colonial era Salzburgers part of the way up the Savannah River from Downtown Savannah, through the Port, up into the Savannah Wildlife Refuge, ending at Ebenezer Creek.  This creek is a black water creek filled with beauty.  American History abounds on this eco-tourism friendly cruise.

Savannah River Tour - (1½-6 hours) This cruise explores the today and yesteryear history of the Savannah River and Harbor area, from Ft. Jackson to the Savannah Refuge.  Learn about the rice plantations that surrounded the city and see ships that ply the waters of the world.  The rich and famous have their yachts built and repaired at the famous Intermarine Dry Dock facility.  Savannah Refuge is just outside the city limits, world renowned for the birding found in this popular sanctuary.  Visit these sights and more on this cruise.

Savannah National Wildlife Refuge Tour - (3-5 hours) This trip explores the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge.  This refuge is world renowned for birding.  Amazingly, with the city and port of Savannah right around the corner, the Savannah Refuge is another world with its pristine abundance of nature and beauty just a few miles from our historic coastal city.  Many different species of flora and fauna are found in this popular sanctuary.  Visit these sights and more on this cruise.

Barrier Island Excursion - (3-8 hours) Explore the barrier islands of Little Tybee or Wassaw on this trip.  These pristine islands are wonders of nature that can only be accessed by boat.  We have the boat and the knowledge to bring your group this opportunity. 

Daufuskie Island traditional and contemporary metal working workshop – (5-8 hours including ferry ride both ways) Featured Lowcountry Artisan’s Tour work shop by island blacksmith doing non-traditional contemporary forging techniques in his covered open air studio.  Forging seminar is customizable to include golf cart tour of Daufuskie’s historic district points of interest, Gullah/Geechee attractions, walking eco-tours, other artist attractions, or pristine undeveloped beach trip.  Rates starting as low as $65 per participant depending on booked activities.  

Archaeological/Eco-tour of Savannah River Basin – (4–6 hours) Eclectic tour of the river banks and water ways at the mouth of the Savannah River. Fascinating tour typically includes looking for fossilized shark’s teeth, dinosaur bones, and artifacts dredged up in the mud from the Savannah River shipping channel and deposited in massive mounds on a variety of locations on the Savannah River bank. Exploratory Island hopping on barrier islands with highly experienced Ferry Boat Captain, this informative tour is customizable to your request and includes dolphin watching in the Savannah River. $200 per boatload tour for up to six passengers. Historic Savannah Lowcountry Culinary Cooking Classes – (2 hours) Most classes are 2 hours in length and reservations are required. All classes feature a demonstration to learn how to cook some of the best the South has to offer as well as Italian, Thai and French cuisine to name a few. All students will receive a copy of the recipes cooked, samples of the dishes prepared and a beverage. Savor the delights of learning to cook flavorful ethnic and regional cuisines. Students also get a 10% discount on all items bought on the day of their class.

Puppet Making Workshop – (2½ hours) Accomplished Savannah puppeteering professionals put on work shops for children and adults alike. Instructions and supplies provided to create the perfect rod puppet.  This hands-on workshop inspires the imagination and also includes some instruction to make these newly created puppets come to life in the hands of the student puppeteer.  

Black History Tour – (2 hours) Two hour customizable Freedom Trail Tour by fifteen passenger van.  History filled glimpses of cultural heritage of African Americans in Lowcountry Savannah.  Tour includes remnants of underground railway, historic African churches, Civil Rights Museum, Beach Institute, and slave burial grounds.
